In light of the second wave of coronavirus pandemic, the American P&I Club is further extending the validity PEME certificates to April 15, 2021.
It is known that COVID-19 along with its significant restrictions on shipowners’ ability to perform regular crew changes, are a major challenge for the maritime community.
Therefore, the American Club is further extending the validity of American Club PEME certificates to April 15, 2021.
Namely, the extension covers seafarers originating from Bulgaria, India, Indonesia, Latvia, Philippines, Poland, Romania, the Russian Federation and Ukraine who:
- currently hold valid American Club PEME certificates which have expired, or which are due to expire prior to April 15, 2021.
- are currently deployed onboard a vessel entered for P&I cover with the Club. For seafarers awaiting deployment, the current requirements remain in effect, as summarized at: https://www.american club.com/page/pemes.
According to the club, any requests for exceptions to this policy will be considered on a case-by-case basis by the Managers, and will require their prior approval.
