Amendments to the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG)Code
Summary
The purpose of this Note is to promulgate IMO resolution MSC.294(87) on advance application in whole or in part of the amendments to the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code (the Amendments) on a voluntary basis as from 1 January 2011 and the approved amendments to the Emergency Response Procedures for Ships Carrying Dangerous Goods (EmS Guide), MSC.1/Circ.1360.
1. The Maritime Safety Committee of the International Maritime Organization at its 87th session (MSC 87) in May 2010 adopted, by resolution MSC.294(87), the Amendments” which will enter into force on 1 January 2012. However, the Amendments may be applied in whole or in part on a voluntary basis as from 1 January 2011.
2. MSC 87 also approved amendments to the EmS Guide, MSC.1/Circ.1360. These amendments are consequential following the Amendments.
3. The details of the Amendments as contained in resolution MSC.294(87) and amendments to the EmS Guide (MSC.1/Circ.1360) can be found below.
4. Shipowners, ship managers, ship operators, ship masters and classification societies of Hong Kong registered ships are required to note the amendments and act accordingly.
