ABS has opened the ABS Global LNG Academy in Doha, a training center focused on educating mariners in LNG vessel operations.
The academy aims to provide theoretical and practical training for safety in LNG carriage and handling as a marine fuel. It offers online, virtual, and classroom options, providing immersive learning experiences. The training covers various aspects, such as gas handling operations, engine room simulation, and commercial operations of LNG carriers, with a diverse suite of programs available.
Qatar offers an ideal location for the establishment of ABS’ global LNG Academy, allowing us to combine Qatar’s LNG operational leadership with ABS’ record of safety leadership and technical and regulatory LNG knowledge. This one-of-a-kind, state-of-the-art facility offers a unique learning experience both on board and through immersive classroom simulation training.

Supported by QatarEnergy, the Academy is a collaborative effort with industry partners to establish it as a global center for LNG-related training and development. The initiative aligns with Qatar’s National Vision 2030 and the Tawteen Program, emphasizing education and quality employment for Qatari nationals.
