It was caught up in a crossfire between Gaddafi loyalists and the rebels
A ship chartered by the Maltese government left Tripoli harbour on Sunday after evacuating 55 stranded foreign workers, officials said.
The workers left on board the MV Triva I, expected to arrive in Malta Monday.
It was the ship’s second attempt to berth in Tripoli, after having been forced to abort its first attempt a week ago when it was caught up in a crossfire between Gaddafi loyalists and the rebels. The ship was forced to return to Malta before heading back to Tripoli.
Hundreds of expatriates are expected to board vessels to neighbouring Malta in the coming days, as the situation around the Libyan port calms down after days of clashes.
