ABS Vice President for Technology, Gareth Burton, noted that up until now 2D drawings have offered the efficiency of detail. Nevertheless, advances in technology and 3D-modeling techniques can enable one end-to-end project model for plan approval.

Furthermore, these 3D models can save time and resources, Crowley's Vice President of Engineering, Jay Edgar, claimed, adding that the CAD agnostic approach allows the use of modeling program according to the needs of a given project.
