MOL announced that it will support three initiatives to address the issue of global warming. These are the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures; Japan Climate Initiative; and Cool Choice.
MOL created the “MOL Group Environmental Vision 2030” to be its environmental management policy under the “MOL Group Environmental Policy Statement”.

These aim to contribute to global environmental conservation by developing environmental and emission-free businesses as its next-generation core activities.
Now, the three initiatives that the company will support are the following:
Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD)
TCFD is established by Financial Stability Board (FSB), to encourage companies to provide information on climate change-related impacts and risks facing businesses and share it among institutional investors and financial institutions.
As of 20th November, 547 corporations have pledged to participate in TCFD.
Japan Climate Initiative (JCI)
JCI was launched under the Paris Agreement. It is a network of companies, municipalities, and NGOs taking a proactive stance in mitigating climate changes. Through JCI, MOL will cooperate with other participating companies and organizations to establish solutions to environmental issues.
Cool Choice
Cool Choice is Japan’s national movement to advance low-carbon products, services, and lifestyles to meet the goal of reducing the nation’s greenhouse gas (GHGs) emissions.
MOL is trying to reduce GHG emissions by developing ship technologies including its “Senpaku ISHIN NEXT” project and improving vessel operational efficiency. Ishin Next – MOL Smart Ship Project”, intended to leverage the knowledge and know-how gained through the development process for various ship types, with the adoption of Internet of Things (IoT) to enhance safe operation and reduce vessels’ environmental impact.
By participating in Cool Choice , all MOL members are called to adopt low-carbon society lifestyle.
MOL also plans to implement various initiatives in its offices as part of the Cool Choice challenge week.
