The US Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement informed that is currently conducting an investigation regarding the fatality of a construction worker in an area of the Gulf of Mexico known as West Cameron 215A, about 64 miles south of Lake Charles, Louisiana.
The platform is operated by the offshore oil and gas operator, Energy Resource Technology, which is a subsidiary of Talos Production. The company reported that the incident happened at approximately 10:30am on Feb. 17, 2018.
The worker who died was involved in removing firewater piping when the incident took place. No one else was injured, and there was no pollution as a result of the incident.
BSEE Gulf of Mexico Region investigators and inspectors began conducting a thorough investigation into the cause of the fatality over the weekend, with more detailed information expected when it becomes available.
